John 16:12-15

TEXT:
John 16:12-15 (Contemporary English Bible)
“I have much more to say to you, but you can’t handle it now. However, when the Spirit of Truth comes, he will guide you in all truth. He won’t speak on his own, but will say whatever he hears and will proclaim to you what is to come. He will glorify me, because he will take what is mine and proclaim it to you. Everything that the Father has is mine. That’s why I said that the Spirit takes what is mine and will proclaim it to you."

REFLECTIONS:
When we learned math as first graders, we weren't given imaginary numbers or calculous to master. Those things came later, once we had time to grasp all the basics that come first.
The same principle applies to theology and wisdom and Ultimate Truth. The more we grow and mature, the more we can handle and be trusted with. God's not in a rush to give us all the answers all at once. Truth doesn't come with a period at the end of the sentence either.
So let's be humble toward our own conceptions of Truth, and gracious toward others who aren't where we think they should be.
PRACTICE:
Outward Mindset Application When you start to feel aggravated toward someone this week, try to remember a time when you did something similar to what they are doing.
Pathways Toward Centeredness Before you start each day, spend 10 minutes in silent awareness.
Questions for Consideration What is something new you have learned recently? What is a truth that you think would benefit the world if it learned to accept it more quickly?
